At the beginning ...
The book starts out with introducing the insitution and the nurses
and all of the patients currently in the ward, starting with an
important character named "CHIEF." Chief is a tall, indian
man who can seem quite overwhelming to others. The ward
thinks that Chief is deaf and mute, he never speaks, and they claim
he cannot hear anyone.
A little while later, McMurphy is introduced. McMurphy is a cocky
self-centered mand who is only concentrating on one thing right now,
and that is over powering the ward with his rules. He doesn't have
many friends at the ward at the beggining of the book, and he pretty
much just acts quite obnoxious toward anyone who will let him,
including the nurses and employees.
